CO2 Neutral Production

With regards to climate action (SDG13), Ontex’s focus is on energy efficiency, renewable energy and supporting climate resilience so that their operations can become carbon neutral by 2030.

In April 2020, two sites (Eeklo and Mayen) where Ontex produces the « Moltex » brand have already achieved this goal by officially becoming CO2-neutral production plants for their climate impact in 2019.  Going beyond purchasing 100% green electricity, the plants in Eeklo & Mayen go one step further by taking their responsibility to compensate for their unavoidable use of fossil fuels.  By supporting a VCS ( ) certified climate project the company supported the generation of 1.630 MWh of renewable energy, supported more than 1.500 households to have access to green energy and in the process the company has avoided 1.200 tCO2 emissions.  Thanks to their offsetting commitment, the company has as such had an impact on at least 3 sustainable development goals (SDG 7, 8 and 13).

“ZERO" production waste

No production waste ends up in landfill.

Ethical Sourcing

We emphasise the importance of ensuring that our raw materials come from ethically, socially acceptable and responsible sources. We use risk based social audit approach to ensure social compliance in our supply chain.

An environmentally sound quality assurance process

A quality assurance process based on the principles of environmental awareness and responsibility always has the highest priority at MOLTEX. The need for continuous production and product monitoring poses a challenge in this context. This involves assessing environmental and social consequences and continuously adapting them to the most recent standards. (ISO14001 , ISO50001) These include challenges such as reducing material consumption, optimising energy use, waste management and reducing toxic emissions in transport and logistics. Another important focus of activity is the energy management system, which offers new opportunities for energy savings, such as the use and continual upgrading of energy-efficient engines and conversion to LED lighting.

Our employees: the beating heart and driving force of Moltex

Moltex employees are naturally the beating heart and driving force of our company. We rely on a systematic, practice-oriented approach to staff development, as well as encouraging and supporting ongoing training and further education. We emphasise the importance of promoting progressive improvements in work-life balance through effective measures. It is also important for us to heighten awareness of sustainable values among our entire workforce, and we strive to set a good example. This is a process that can only be carried out together and by taking small steps. Additionally, we conduct 3rd party social audits (BSCI) in our plants to ensure fair working conditions

Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the world’s best-known labels for products tested for harmful substances.

During the tests numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health, are taken into consideration. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 exceed national and international requirements.

Babies require special protection. Accordingly, in OEKO-TEX® ‘Product class I’, baby care items are held to the strictest criteria, in line with sensitive baby skin. In addition, our products are tested and certified according to the expanded requirements of ‘Annex 6’ which is even more rigorous compared to the requirements of ‘Annex 4’.

Moltex products are tested for harmful substances according to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® and no harmful substances were identified in the lab tests above the most strict limit values of product class I: articles for babies and toddlers.
